Lilies just shout spring!
I am preparing for Easter dinner today. I will get the ham today, and whatever else I need to make a meal for my men. T2 and T3 are coming for brunch. T1 is working, so C will be spending time with her family. I will see them next weekend at the baby shower. I wanted to share a recipe for Bourbon Glazed Ham today. Now, if you have never had Bourbon Glazed Ham, you are missing out. I will put pictures and the recipe on my recipe page after Easter. I don't want to bake a ham just for pictures on the blog. But you can serve this ham any time. And let me warn you, since I was given this recipe, I have baked a ham once a month, which is quite a bit of ham considering Denim Dan and I are the only ones who eat it, but eat it we do - until it is gone.
Anyway on to the recipe
Bourbon Glazed Ham
In a small sauce pan mix 1 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup Dijon mustard, and 4 tbls bourbon*. Heat until the sugar melts. Put a spiral cut bone in ham in a roasting pan, bone up so that the face of the ham is flat on the pan. Pour the glaze over the ham and bake at 300 degrees for 2 hours. Baste the ham every 30 minutes or so.
*you can substitute apple juice
Now let me tell you - this will be the best ham you have ever eaten. I could drink that glaze. Any you might be tempted to do just that, but if you do, please wait until after it has been cooked so the alcohol has cooked off. We don't need any drunks in the kitchen!
I will also be serving egg casserole, cheesy hash browns, cinnamon rolls, biscuits and frozen fruit salad.
Which - by the way is just a smaller version of my Christmas brunch - but hey - it works.
What are your plans for Easter are you making a ham?
